How to change the rear shock absorbers?

Replacing the rear shock absorbers on the "classic" is easier than ever. Remove the wheel, jacking up and hang out the car. Use the second jack to press the rear axle on the right side, use the key for 19 to unscrew the nuts of the lower and upper shock absorber mounts, take out the bolt of the lower bracket, remove the upper shock absorber from the upper bracket and throw it out. Install a new one, put another bottom bolt and tighten. That's basically it.

With "Samara" and "dozens" everything is somewhat more complicated. To get to the top mount, you need to tilt the rear seats, remove, if necessary, decorative panels, remove the rubber caps.Then we also hang out the car jack, we tighten the spring with a special device, unscrew the upper nut of the shock absorber using a hexagon and a spanner wrench. Unscrew the bolt of the lower mounting rear shock. In this case, you must be prepared for the fact that the bolt will be hard to unwind, it will have to be pre-treated with a “WD-40” fluid, or even warmed up with a torch or blowtorch.

We remove the second jack and remove the rear rack, carefully unscrew the nut that holds the plate, the support pad and the spring. We take a new shock absorber, put a spring on it, a new boot and a chipper, and collect everything in the reverse order. It is important to make sure that the last turn of the spring has become exactly in the groove of the plate. It is better to put the shock absorber in place together, since it is difficult for one to hit the rod into the hole in the rear glass of the car. It is necessary to tighten the upper nut of the rear shock absorber after you put the car on the wheels so that the shock absorber is loaded.

How to change the front shock absorbers?

On classic VAZ models, the front shock absorbers change in the same way as the rear ones.With front-wheel-drive car models, everything is completely different. You can replace the entire rack entirely, but more often they only change the cartridge, leaving the old case.

To perform the work fit inspection pit, overpass or just a flat platform. From the side of the rack being removed, we hang out the car and remove the wheel, turn the steering wheel all the way to the opposite side, remove the pin and turn off the nut that secures the finger of the tie rod end to the pivot arm of the rack. We press the finger out of the lever with a puller. We take out the front brake hose from the holder. Then turn off the shock absorber rod, using a special key, and loosen the stem nut. We turn away the mounting bolts of the rack to the steering knuckle and gently knock them out. We divert to the side of the steering knuckle, while not tightening the brake hose.

The key to 13 unscrew the nuts securing the support bearing to the glass and remove the rack. We tighten the spring with ties with opposite sides and turn off the stem nut. We remove from the shock absorber support, support cup, spring, chipper and boot. We knock down the chisel and remove the compression buffer support from the rack housing, unscrew the rack housing nut with a key or with a chisel.We wash the rack with white spirit, put a new cartridge and do all the work in the reverse order, trying not to miss anything.
