After 10 Years This is How I Make Milk Tea
How to Make Sweet Milk Tea
Sweet tea is a simple brew of strong tea, some kind of milk product, and a sweetener. Many Asian cultures drink some form of this drink. For instance, in Tibet, milk, hot water, sugar, and tea leaves are all churned together and then strained for the drinker. You can buy it at local coffee shops or bubble tea shops. However, you can also brew it at home for a fraction of the cost.
Royal Milk (Sweet) Tea
2 heaping teaspoons of tea leaves
1/2 cup milk
2-3 tablespoons sugar or honey to taste
3/4 cup water
Iced Sweet Milk Tea with Tapioca Bubbles
14 cups cool water (at least)
1 cup fresh tapioca pearls (boba)
1 cup cool water
1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
4-5 cups hot (boiling) water
8-15 tea bags (depending on how strong you like it)
4-5 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
Brewing Royal Milk (Sweet Tea)
Bring the water to boil in a small saucepan.Add the 3/4 a cup of water to a saucepan, and bring it to a boil.
Add the tea.Dump the tea leaves into the pot. Lower the heat so the tea is simmering. Let it simmer for 1 to 2 minutes. If you like it stronger, you can let it go a little longer.
Add the milk.Pour 1/2 a cup of milk into the pan. Let it come to a light boil. Don't let it boil too much, as the milk can curdle.
Warm your cup.Run some hot water into your tea cup. A warm tea cup will keep your tea warm when it comes off the stove. Discard the water before you add the tea.
Strain the tea leaves out.Using a strainer, strain out the leaves as you pour the tea into your cup.
Add your sugar.Stir in your sugar, and adjust it to your tastes.
Making Iced Sweet Milk Tea with Tapioca Bubbles
Boil the tapioca balls (bubbles).Boil 7 cups of the water, and pour in the tapioca balls, stirring as you do. Let them cook for 25 minutes on medium heat. Be sure to stir every few minutes.
- Rinse off the balls. Also, wash out the pan. You need it to be starch free. Let the bubbles simmer for an additional 15 minutes or so.
- The bubbles should be chewy but soft when they are done. Drain off the water and rinse the bubbles and pan.
Create a syrup.Boil the cup of water in a small pan with the 1 1/2 cups of light brown sugar. Take it off the heat once the sugar has disappeared into the water.
Add the bubbles to the syrup.Stir the bubbles into the brown sugar syrup.
Prepare each cup individually.Steep 2 or 3 teabags in a cup of boiling water. Do so for each serving you are making.
Shake with ice.Add a tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk to a shaker along with some ice. Once the tea has steeped, add it to the shaker, and shake it until it's cooled.
Add bubbles to a glass.Add a couple of tablespoons of bubbles to a glass, along with some ice. Pour the tea over the ice. Use a wide straw to drink it.
