What fabric can be dyed?
Before you start coloring, try changing the shade on a piece of cloth of the same quality.
The most difficult thing to paint are things from Nitron or Dacron. You can take such a desperate step, otherwise it’s just impossible to wear a thing.
Wash the clothes you just bought before painting. Some manufacturers apply a special compound that protects against fading. To change the shade, you need to rinse things in a solution of synthetic detergent.
- Mix in 10 liters of water 50 g of ammonia in a concentration of 25%.
- Soak and rinse selected clothing.
- Rinse in clean water.
It is more difficult to tidy up clothes with faded spots or stains of dirt. Dirty places can reappear after dyeing, so they need to be washed. The quality of staining worn clothing depends on the desired shade.
If you want to get a lighter tone than was, add an even tone. If the overall color is darker than the original, faded stains will become invisible.
It is best to dye amenable to fabrics made from natural fibers. If you decide to repaint a thing made of synthetic material, try to find special dyes that have a strong effect. To the material, which is prepared for painting, make certain demands:
- A juicy, clean shade will turn out on things white or any light color.
- Cotton, muslin, silk or wool are better dyed with natural dyes.
- Cotton, wool, rayon, flax, ramie and nylon are better colored with artificial colors.
- For things consisting of 60% of yarns susceptible to staining, it is better to use chemical dyes. Since the rest of the fibers can not be dyed, the resulting color will be less saturated.
Painting items from mettalinized yarn, elastane and a thing with a badge on the "dry cleaning only" tag are not allowed.
Since the dye can stain the floor, furniture, it is necessary to cover problem areas with film or paper, placing them in 2-3 layers. Prepare in advance sponge for dishes or paper towels. They will be needed if you accidentally spill a dye.
Any clothes before repainting must be washed. Stain only clean things, otherwise the paint will lie unevenly. For washing, dilute the soap solution from warm water and emollient powder.
To get a richer shade, lighten clothes with bleach. After washing, proceed with staining immediately. Dye evenly falls on a damp cloth.
How to use natural dyes?
Choice of fixative.Clamps are needed to ensure that the paint is better fixed on the fibers. They differ and depend on the type of paint chosen:
- Natural paints from berries are fixed with a fixer made from brine. For its preparation it is necessary to use 100-125 ml of salt and 8-9 glasses of cold water.Stir the salt thoroughly until complete dissolution.
- Dyes from onion peel, herbs are fixed with vinegar fixer. To prepare it, take 500 ml of white vinegar and 2 liters. cold water.
For chemical dyes special fixers are sold that fit the type of material.
So that the retainer has worked, soak the thing in it and leave it for 60 minutes. After that, rinse the clothes under running cold water.
What and how to make a natural dye?
You can create a dye from a natural material yourself. It is necessary to collect plant material from which you will create your own shade. To shade turned out saturated and colorful, you should follow the rules of collection:

- if you pick flowers, they should already be full. It is better if they are closer in development to the final period of life;
- stalks and leaves collect in full growth.
Collected herbarium, chop into small pieces using a kitchen knife or coarse grater. Grinding vegetation allows dye pigments to be released. So they rather fall into the water.Place the prepared parts of the plant in a bulk pan. Volume capacity should be 2 times the volume of vegetation.
Pour water to hide the cooked vegetation 2 times and set to high heat. Keep the pot on high heat until boiling. As soon as the mixture starts to whine, turn the heat to the minimum and let the vegetation stand for about 1 hour. The mixture should be simmered on low heat.
Cool the mixture to that temperature so that it can be drained. Use a strainer for this purpose. Pour the separated liquid back into the pan.

- nylon and other synthetic threads - 1/4 ml of white vinegar per 6 liters of water.
To paint things, take a large saucepan so that things can easily stain. On average, for 1 thing, use a capacity of 7-8 liters.
Pour 5-6 liters of water and put on medium heat until boiling. As soon as the water gurgles, put a retainer and colorant. On sale there are 2 forms of dyes:
When buying, pay attention to the label. On it should be written instructions with a sequence of application. It also indicates how much paint needs to be added to the pan.
Powder paint, most often, fall asleep completely in the pan. Liquid dye is added by measures (usually half a bottle per 6 liters). Stir the paint thoroughly so that no lumps remain. After complete dissolution of the dye, lower the clothes.
Try to keep the thing completely immersed and evenly soaked with dye.
Once the water has completely covered the clothes, let it boil. After boiling, muffle the fire so that the water boils but does not splash. Simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover the container is not necessary.
Pull the hot items gently with two forks and lower them into a container where you can rinse under running water.Alternatively, put them in a bath or sink. During the rinse dye flows out of things, this is the norm.
Rinse until they stop painting. Rinse should be hot water, switching it to cold. In cold condition, it is an excellent fixer. After staining with chemical dyes, dry things in a suspended state.

After that, dilute the prepared solution with water of 40-50 degrees so that the diluted dye will be 10-20 times larger in volume than the volume of things. Put the things in the prepared solution and leave to boil. After 20 minutes of low boiling, remove the items and pour 2 liters of the finished salt solution (2 liters of salt per 2 liters of water).
If the finished color should be light, reduce the amount of salt by 2 times.

Temperature conditions should be chosen based on the characteristics of the fabric. The main thing is that the material, after it has been painted, remains in its original state.
Pour water to medium load clothes. Too much liquid will dilute the dye too much and it will not color the material. Dissolve the dye with water so that it dissolves evenly. Once the water has filled the machine tank, put the clothes on. Things before painting must be wetted so that the dye uniformly fills the fiber structure.
To get the shade enough to set the 30-minute mode. In longer mode, you will get rich colors. When machine washing is necessary to install an additional rinse mode to remove the residues of the coloring matter.
